Product FAQs

Frequently asked questions about our products

Quick answers on certifications, sizes and choosing the right pipe or tank.

What products does Goodwill Group manufacture?
Goodwill manufactures PVC pressure pipes (ISI marked, IS 4985), uPVC pipes to ASTM D1785, rigid PVC electrical conduits and fittings, garden and suction hoses, and PVC solvent cement. Our tank range covers overhead, underground sump, loft, capsule and septic tanks, plus soak pits. Our pipes and tanks are made at our Kinfra Industries Park plant in Kazhakkoottam, Thiruvananthapuram.
Are Goodwill pipes ISI and BIS certified?
Goodwill holds a BIS licence to manufacture PVC pipes conforming to IS 4985:2001 and conduit pipes conforming to IS 9537 (Part 3). The group's quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015. Where a standard applies, it appears in the product name, for example "as per IS 4985".
What is the difference between 2-layer, 3-layer and 4-layer water tanks?
Multi-layer tanks are built in separate layers that each do a job: typically an outer layer that resists sunlight, a middle layer for insulation and strength, and a clean inner layer that touches the water. More layers generally mean better light-blocking and insulation, which helps keep water cooler and limits algae. Check each product page for the exact build.
What capacities do Goodwill water tanks come in?
Our 3-layer white tank is available in eight capacities: 310, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 and 5000 litres. The 2-layer blue tank comes in 500, 750 and 1000 litres, and our soak pit is available in 400 litres. Capacities can vary by model, so confirm the sizes on the individual product page.
Which pipe should I use for plumbing and which for electrical wiring?
Use PVC pressure pipes, such as ISI marked pipes to IS 4985, to carry water in plumbing. Use rigid PVC electrical conduits, made to IS 9537 (Part 3), to protect electrical wiring. Conduits are built to house cables, not to carry water under pressure, so the two should never be swapped.
What is the difference between Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipes?
Schedule refers to wall thickness. Schedule 80 pipe has a thicker wall than Schedule 40 of the same nominal size, so it can handle higher pressure. Goodwill makes both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 uPVC pipes to ASTM D1785, suited to industrial and export-grade applications.
How do I choose the right water tank size for my home?
Estimate your household's daily water use, multiply it by the number of people, then add the number of days of backup you want. Also consider where the tank will sit, because roof load and available space matter as much as litres. For larger storage without adding roof weight, an underground sump tank is an option.
What adhesive should I use to join PVC pipes and fittings?
Use a PVC solvent cement made for pipes and fittings. Goodwill Bond is a fast-curing solvent cement designed for leak-proof joints, available in 25 ml, 50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 1000 ml and 5-litre packs. Apply it to clean, dry pipe ends and follow the instructions on the pack.
Are Goodwill water tanks made from virgin material?
Yes. Goodwill Extrusions manufactures its water tanks, septic tanks and related products using 100% virgin material, with a dedicated team of examiners and quality controllers checking the output.
